Cover Up Caught On Camera: 6 Police Officers Taser And Beat Mentally-ill Homeless Man To Death

Video footage of 6 Fullerton, CA police officers tasering and beating a homeless man to death exposes a cover up that local officials refuse to answer questions about.

Shocking: This picture shows the extent of the injuries Thomas received after being beaten up by six police officers
The photo above shows the injuries sustained by Kelly Thomas, homeless man described as a gentle and mentally-ill man, who was the victim of a police beating by 6 Fullerton police officers.
Corporate news coverage of the event downplays the prospect of police brutality or foul play in the incident.
ABC video report on the eyewitness statements and recently a released video of the beating captured by a bystander, both attached to this page below, contradict the official story of the incident given by the police.
The LA Times report on the incident, however, echoes the official police story failing to report within the article itself the claims from eyewitnesses.
As shown in the ABC video below, witnesses report that the man was not resisting arrest. They tell ABC he was actually knocked unconscious while the police continued to beat him and scream at him to stop resisting.

A witness describes the police beating given to Kelly Thomas, which resulted in his death. “They kept beating him and beating him and tasering him. I could hear him zzzzt. zzzzt. zzzt. And he wasn’t even moving. He had one arm in front of him like this. He wasn’t resisting. And they kept telling him ‘he’s resisting, he’s resisting. Quit resisting.’ and he wasn’t resisting.
In the video footage of the actually beating, which just released, you can hear the mentally ill man screaming for his dad before he is knocked unconscious and put into a 5 day long coma before he eventually died in the local hospital.

Kelly Thomas, a homeless man, was beaten into a coma by the Fullerton police during an arrest on July 5, 2011. Kelly died several days later.
In the background you can hear the victim, who was mentally ill, screaming “Dad! Dad! Dad!”
According to a report on The Daily Mail, the Fullerton police department originally claimed that two officers sustained broken bone injuries during the “fight”. The statement was then later retracted saying the officers only suffered “soft-tissue” damage after they were given a demand to provide documentation that officer’s bones were broken during the incident.
Caught on tape: Police beat and taser ‘gentle’ mentally-ill homeless man to death
A shocking video has been released allegedly showing police officers tasering and beating a homeless man to death who they claim was resisting arrest.
Though the video is not clear, eye witnesses say the homeless man – Kelly Thomas, 37 – was unable to put up any resistance and was lying on the ground on his front when the attack took place on July 5.
His screams and cries for his father can be heard amid the tasering noises.
Dead: Mentally ill homeless man Kelly Thomas, 37, was beaten and tasered to death by police for allegedly 'resisting arrest'
[...]
The video was shot by a student in Fullerton, California. Kelly Thomas was beaten so badly he died in hospital several days later.
[...]Eye witnesses at the scene claim the six officers tasered him five times and beat him beyond recognition, which the disturbing photo of him in hospital shows.
Mark Turgeon, who was there, said: ‘They kept beating him and tasering him. I could hear zapping, and he wasn’t even moving.
‘He had one arm in front of him like this, he wasn’t resisting. And they kept telling him, “He’s resisting, quit resisting”, and he wasn’t resisting.’
Many members of the Fullerton community described Thomas as a passive, peaceful person.

But in over three weeks since the incident little has been done as the apparent police cover up has continued.
Local residents report that public officials have stonewalled the public and media who are trying to get an official statement on the story.
The district attorney has so far remained silent on the issue. Bystanders who witnessed the deadly beating claim they have not been contacted by the city for their testimony about the incident.
One citizen reports he was finally able to corner the Mayor into making a statement to the public. In this this YouTube video of the Mayor stated, “You don’t start talkin’ about things if your trying to get the answer.”
As the wall of silence about the alleged police brutality case continues other public officials reportedly refuse to comment on the status of the investigation as well.
Instead, they have only released a document, in response to a public records request, showing that two officers have been suspended without pay. Officials refused to comment on whether the suspended officers were involved in the beating or if the suspensions are even connected with the beating.
The silence from public officials and the lack of charged being filed by the police has caused local activists and protesters to demand that FBI or independent third party from the state take over the investigation.

If I was a witness I would not DARE get involved. You can tell by the video that the witnesses were too scared to come close enough to capture images clearly. Intervening in such a situation is just standing in line for the same treatment. It’s like trying to stand up to a pack of rampaging murderers, except these bastards are licensed. I don’t blame them for not wanting to get bashed to death. The guy who filmed it was taking a risk as it was.
btw I love how the copper claims two police got their bones broken. That’s what you get when you sit on top a guy while the rest of the mob are laying into him with truncheons like rabid animals – someone is bound to get hurt aye?
oh, and even if he was, somehow, responsible for breaking a bone (probably a cop’s toe because he was the cop was kicking so hard) I’m amazed to see this idiot claiming that somehow this justifies what happened.
If I murdered someone in retaliation for breaking my little finger, I’d end up going to prison for twenty years. these criminals are going to walk simply because they have a badge.

these terrorist thugs need to have their faces plastered everywhere. not only that but also the faces of everyone of their family members. if they can do this to an unarmed citizen not breaking any laws then they are more than capable of doing this to anyone, their own family included. post their family members pics online and whatever facebook, myspace, etc you can find for them just to get the word out that the family members could be in danger of abuse by these thugs.
seriously, if these thugs can do this this, then you have to really worry about the family of these thugs. who knows what abuse they could be suffering right now if these monsters in any way shape or form bring their work home with them.

I would have helped. How can anyone stand there and let 6 men (I don’t care what uniform they have on) viciously beat 1 man like that! What is wrong with this country, why can’t people take a stand for what is right. What if that was their family member. And now what happens, they shove this under the rug. I hope that family pursues this to the very end. These men should not be police officers. They are a disgrace to humanity. Why are they on leave with pay? Why should they be paid? What kind of leave is that? If 6 civilians did that to 1 civilian, he would be sitting in jail right now so why aren’t they sitting in jail? Why does the uniform give them special priviledges? Why doesn’t the media pursue this story in an investigative manner? They manage to pursue other issues and create a media frenzy over less important subjects. It’s about time this country grow a pair and do what is right and help when it is needed instead of being afraid of what might happen to them. My heart goes out to the family of that poor man!

This is why I wont walk down the street without a phone in my hand. I live in a predominantly black neighborhood and I was constantly stopped by the cops while going to the store until I started activating my smartphone camera when they pulled beside me. now they just go on. We recently had a cop beat up a handicap person here in Ohio, there was enough backlash to get him suspended. That cop has been a parasite on the community since I was young. Glad to see him get a comeuppance finaly

The problem is Americans do not want to get involved in anything regarding our government. Many belive being patroitic is flying your flag, and voting, and that is the extent of it! Americans have come to a point where the majority just want somebody else to take there garbage out. As opposed to getting in the face of corruption within our own federal government! These law enforcement officers will get away with this. And nobody will do amything to prevent these criminals from getting a job in another county, or state! I feel sorry for the family, and the cruelity thay have personnaly witnessed thru there loved one. It is dispictable, and reveals exactly what the bible states. They will call good evil, and evil good! Evil will continue to abound, many of our senators are sold out to special interest groups, like lobbyist, involving huge somes of ill gotten gains $$$$. The bible states, The love of money is the root of all evil!

It so sad to see our men in many cities can work and can not afford to live in there ghettos. It better to be dead than to live a life of homelessness . But hope he is alright.
If a child can not live on $7.25 and hour we all know that a grown man can not live on such wages.

Resisting arrest… a get out of jail card so well used? The police threatening the lives of people and killing them?
When will the people say enough is enough?
You have the right to carry arms, well use it and shoot these police fuckers when they go around killing people like this, once 30/40 murdering cops are put in the ground they wont be so keen to go killing. If it was my son that had been killed like that I would for-sure track them down and kill those fuckers.

The police probably yell out something such as ‘stop resisting’ to make it appear to passersby that the man is resisting when he’s not. It’s likely a juvenile trick they use along with numerous others designed to confuse/coverup questions of wrongdoing. Obviously, if they hadn’t have yelled those words, all people would have seen, assuming eyewitness testimony is correct, is six policemen beating a man to death for no reason. Add the ‘stop resisting’ modifier to the scenario and everyone from the eyewitnesses and beyond all stop to think about the situation before rendering an opinion. Once we start thinking, we necessarily entertain the possibility that the man was resisting and then entertain the possibility that the resistance might have warranted six police officers beating him to death. That’s all it would take in a jury’s mind to acquit the officers of all charges.
The problem with these types of incidents is that the only person who knows for sure whether he was resisting has been beaten to death and can’t testify. So, the facts of the case will be likely recorded as those testified to by the police unless eyewitness testimony is available and credible.
I’ve been beaten by the police for no legal or justifiable reason and knowingly falsely charged with resisting arrest in another city whose police have a reputation similar to L.A.’s. People that disbelieve this sort of thing because it doesn’t make sense don’t understand that the police in many places are essentially criminals working for the state. Not all are bad. Some are very good. Most are OK. Some are evil. When you stop to think how many times you see a ‘good cop’ turning in a ‘bad cop’, you realize that they pretty much stick together regardless and so even the ‘good cops’ likely remain silent about substantial wrongdoing rather than risk being outed by the fold. My personal opinion is that a ‘good cop’ that does nothing about ‘bad cops’ is not a good cop, just a fearful one.
When the public demands that the police wear cameras and that they not be allowed to turn them off while not attending personal needs, and further demand that the filming evidence never be available to the custody of the police, that’s when these murdering baboons will stop teaching homeless mentally ill people a lesson my torturing them to death. I can’t express just how disgusting this is to me. Even if he had been resisting, did it take six police officers with weapons to beat him to death to get him to stop? Please.
I’ve used the terms ‘beating to death’ and similar to describe the beating that resulted in his death even though his death didn’t occur simultaneously in time with the beating. Since the beating was the direct cause of his death, the crime would still be rightfully charged as a murder or other wrongful death if the two events occurred within a statutory time of each other and there exists probable cause that the other elements of the crime charged are present.
Just like so many people, the police are far less likely to do something wrong when their actions are documented with irrefutable evidence. When we require video recording all arrests and citizen contacts, this type of behavior will all but stop completely. Given the penchant for police to be the enforcers against the citizenry during government oppression, I would think most all would want to demand video proof in this day and age but I understand far to well that those who have never been arrested believe that if you have, you’ve done something wrong and thus your credibility is nil. I used to be one and believed that way also. That’s how the police get away with so much brutality and crime, by letting the public’s logic create their defense.
