Breaking – Japan Nuclear Meltdown Confirmed; Plant Operations Suspended; Workers Evacuated

White Smoke Most Likely Radiation Escaping Due To Breached Containment Vessels

Latest updates out of Japan via Rush Transcripts from live press conference on NHK. Highlights: The steady stream of white smoke coming from the nuclear reactors is most likely radiation being leaked to due to compromised containment vessels. Radiation levels climbed so high the worker operations at the plant have been suspended. The Japanese government will be talking to the US government to get better nuclear protection equipment so operations to cool the reactors can be resumed. Although the legal radiation level for workers was recently raised to 2.5 times the previous limit, the radiation levels are still to high for workers to continue operations at the facility. CNN reports that not only have operations been suspended but the workers have now been evacuated. News from Kyodo says fuel rod damage at the two plants estimated to be 70% and 33% implying a meltdown is underway.
