As I pointed out in my last post, the American Poison Control Center has received over 1,000 calls reporting poison exposure related to the BP Gulf oil spill and the combination of Corexit and oil in Gulf seafood is of major concern.
While an EPA whistleblower has come forward and said the government is lying about the lethal effects of Corexit and lying about water samples, a large area of Gulf fishing waters has been reopened despite the federal government not following its own protocol for doing so.
Then there are water samples, taken by a local news organization on one occasion and by an oil-spill watchdog group on another, which were found highly toxic, contradicting EPA test results.
There is also the marine toxicologist who, referring to the oil spill, says the situation is so bad that “we need to start talking about who’s going to pay for evacuations.”
There are also reports of fishermen who, after being exposed to Corexit, are bleeding internally, photos of millions of dead fish and and animals, admission by the federal government that Corexit may be in Gulf seafood, as well as that same EPA whistleblower warning that the government is hiding the effects of Corexit because the public can’t handle the truth.
You might think that all of these things might make people think twice before trusting the safety of seafood exposed to the BP Gulf oil-spill, which even CNN reports that no one can say is safe, especially since the Gulf is contaminated with huge underwater plumes of invisible toxic oil and dispersants that the government doesn’t seem to be concerned with tracking.
Apparently it isn’t the case that people think twice.
The American Poison Control Center is reporting that it has received over 1,000 calls about exposure to poisons related to the spill.
…
Just recently during a congressional hearing NOAA admitted to Congress that the toxic dispersant Corexit may be in seafood exposed to the BP Gulf oil spill, but gave assurances that it was unlikely.
Fox News is now reporting that researchers now believe Corexit and oil have contaminated crab larvae from Texas to Florida and fear that toxic chemicals from the BP Gulf oil spill may bio-accumulate and contaminate the entire food chain.
A report today from Fox 8 in New Orleans reveals that the “orange blobs found lodged in the bodies of tiny blue crab larvae collected from marshes that stretch from Texas to Florida” appear to contain Corexit, according to preliminary results from researchers at Tulane University.
The report says BP’s dispersant “may do more harm than the oil itself.”
University of New Orleans’ Martin O’Connell, PhD, said, “No one really knows” if Corexit will bio-accumulate. “If you’re a small fish and you eat 1,000 of these small crab larvae and all of them have oil or Corexit droplets in them, they could get into the fish that little fish could be eaten [sic], and so on and so on.”
Pondering the future of the Gulf, O’Connell said, “I think they should be more concerned that we might be losing whole cohorts of these animals when they’re very small, and we won’t see the impact in the adults but three or four years from now.”
Florida toxicologist Dr. William Sawyer, who has been hired on behalf of sickened fishermen and cleanup workers, says “some of these chemicals are in great excess — of risk-based lethal levels — that the current hydrocarbon levels are capable of sterilizing our fisheries and estuary production zones.”
The Fox 8 report concludes, “Since so many fish and crabs feed on crab larvae, some scientists fear the oil and dispersant droplets threaten to kill critical areas in the Gulf of Mexico food web.”
I find it absolutely unbelievable that the federal government has not found one single piece of seafood that has been contaminated during the course of the entire BP Gulf oil spill and yet we have researchers that have found contaminated crabs from Florida to Texas.

So BP's stalling strategy has worked. The media were too slow to cover the dangers, and the fools who believed BP were once again proven wrong. Science won, but journalism failed badly!

If it is proven that larvae of blue crabs and fiddler crabs sampled from Louisiana to Pensacola are contaminated with oil and corexit dispersant, (as one expert put it) “the effect on fisheries could last for years probably not a matter of months” and affect many species.
SO we just stop eating crab and it will be OK right? Wrong!
It all comes down to understanding the food chain. The food chain is the sequence of who eats whom in a biological community (an ecosystem) to obtain nutrition.

"the effect on fisheries could last for years probably not a matter of months"
Exactly! BP's research that Corexit and oil is not bio accumulative is their biggest magic trick! Where do you think are those millions of gallons of oil and corexit going to vanish? They "vanish" right into our body! Everytime you eat fish, shrimps or other seafood products you are taking a part of the oil spill right into your body! We just have to wait a decade after then most people will have completely forgotten the oil spill and there will be an increase in child birth defects near the gulf region. The folks will be like "Oh my god, what is happening? Where does this come from?" and 20 or 30 years later most of the gulf spill workers will have died, all due to unreported deaths. Until then another foreign company will have drilled another deep oil well. It will explode again and all evidences will be denied.
