European Satellite Photo Of BP Gulf Oil Spill From Yucatan Peninsula to Louisiana
I was just pointed to this massive view of the BP Gulf Oil Spill taken from the European CSTARS Satellite showing a view of the BP Gulf Oil Spill from the Yucatan Peninsula to Louisiana
Here I overlayed the CSTARS satellite in Google Earth to give you a sense of the actual size over the Gulf of Mexico.
As a comparison here is the latest NASA provided satellite image of the BP Gulf Oil Spill provided by SkyTruth.
What a difference.

Neither this, nor the source you pointed to made any attempt to explain the image. Considering the distance from which it's taken and the nature of it, I would hope this isn't some childish notion that "anyone can see" the complex and varied mixtures of oil and water from space?

Not everything you see is oil from Macondo, little stuff comes from industrial discharges, carried by currents and concentrated … very little (relatively) …
In addition some areas are not just to do with oil … very few …
Certainly the findings of SAR satellites (microwave, I believe) are more reliable than the MODIS images (at least for the spectral bands, and false colors, as published)

Apparently, IF we want the REAL TRUTH, then, we must rely on “people power”! I’ve recommended in another comment, to take the tarballs & use a geiger counter to see if there’s a radiological signature, to ‘tag it to the bp gusher’.
The SAME, with those supposed ‘sea wed mats, of the coast of Miami’.Just get a boat, & FIND OUT FOR YOURSELVES! There’s plenty of universites & colleges nearby any city, to get reliable tests results. Also look for retired geologists & ‘rock shops’ for someone with a geiger counter.
There’s also E-Bay, if you want one for yourself. I myself, “have NO OTHER NEED, for these devices, other than to identify the radiological nature of the tarball”. And, this way to ‘tag it, with the gusher’, so as to it not being, from another unrelated source!
There’s A LOT, of Methane surrounding the “BP Gusher”, & with this, A LOT of ‘trace amounts of uranium & thorium’. (All the Oil, may very well be this way! And all professional geologists TEST for radioactivity.) “The plume, may also be tracked this way.”
The so-called ‘sea weed mats’, maybe this, or, they are most likely the corexit/oil mix, floating just below the surface, & under the surface, as it came up from colder depths, via warm currents! Yet, “just as TOXIC, as the day it was mixed”! And, remember the test result, that measured 450 times the legal limit? Well,
this stuff, will be around, for y-e-a-r-s. So, test the waters, when you can. And especially, ‘if you have a boat’!
Just remember, “Treat It As HAZARDOUS MATERIAL”! As it’s proven, to ‘pass through the skin & into the bloodstream by only dermal absorbtion’. And please remember, the radioactive nature of the oil, STILL, “isn’t anything to be THAT Concerned With, other than to tag the tarballs to the gusher”! As it’s the sinister nature of the corexit/oil mix, that has ALOT MORE, to be concerned with,
as it has been found, that ‘nano-particles of the corexit/oil mix, have been found in CLEAR WATER’! (Which makes it ‘Null & Void’, of finding precise co-ordinates, via a sheen!)

BP is a terrorist organization the same as Al Qaeda and BP Corporate officers have committed a terrorist act against America by murdering Americans and destroying the Gulf of Mexico (in process). Simply declare BP a terrorist organization and send all company officers to Guantanamo for daily waterboarding until they confess (Bush & Cheney solution) then introduce them to Cuban firing squad.
