NOAA Says BP Gulf Oil Spill No Threat To Florida Keys But Aerial Photos Show Oil In The Keys

Loading ...NOAA says there is no threat To Florida Keys from the Gulf BP Oil Spill and has even taken the loop current off of its watch list.
But in addition to ROFFS tracking, SkyTruth satellite analysis, eyewitness reports, and reports from USF scientists saying otherwise we can now we can add aerial photos showing showing oil in Florida keys to the growing list of evidence of deliberate misinformation being told to the public by BP and the Government.
That list includes:
- On April 23rd, two days after the well had exploded, the Federal Government said there was no oil leak at all.
- The Federal Government then admitted that was indeed a leak and claimed that only 1,000 barrels per day was leaking.
- On April 29th, after being challenged by SkyTruth and FSU Professor Ian MacDonald , NOAA then upped their leak estimate to 5,000 barrels per day.
- NOAA and BP then claimed for weeks there was only 5,000 barrels of oil per day leaking into the Gulf. Thanks to my blog, and others like SkyTruth, NPR busted that myth when they had independent scientists estimate the flow of oil could be as high as 100,000 barrels per day.
- On May 16th the NOAA map of the extent of the spill only showed the oil spill impacting a few beaches along the Louisiana Coast. Meanwhile several news sources reported that the oil was hitting beaches in Alabama and Mississippi in addition the Louisiana beaches being reported by NOAA.
- NOAA said on May 17th that there was no oil in the Loop Current. Yet independent analysis of satellite photos from the same day clearly showed that the oil had traveled over 222 miles into the loop current.
- The very next day on May 18th tarballs where found in the Florida Keys. On May 20th NOAA warned against assuming that the tarballs found in the Florida Keys where from the BP Gulf Oil Spill, a warning which I questioned. NOAA later reported that the tarballs found in the Florida Keys where confirmed not to be from BP’s leak. But oddly enough the are aerial photos on this very post that show huge amounts of oil floating in the Florida Keys around the same time the tarballs where reported.
- On May 18th NOAA continued to deny the existence of underwater plumes and declared the findings of independent scientists who reported the plumes as “misleading, premature and, in some cases, inaccurate”.
- Even when faced by independent analysis showing the flow rate being up to 100,000 barrels per day BP and the Federal Government continued to stick by the 5,000 BPD estimate until BP started collecting 5,000 barrels per day with its riser siphon tool.. Only then did the Government establish an independent team to get an accurate measurement of the amount of oil leaking.
- On May 20th BusinessInsider.com ran a report saying that the White House was covering up the existence of a plume of oil in the Florida Keys.
- On May 22nd Aerial Photos taken in the Florida Keys showed streamers of oil in the Gulf Stream, which seem to corroborate the report on BusinessInsider.com of a coverup. Oddly enough those waters remained open to fishing and NOAA and other government officials still refused to acknowledge that the BP Gulf Oil Spill had made it into the Gulf Stream.
- On May 26th more aerial photos were taken which showed more oil in the water off of the southern coast of Florida. NOAA still did not acknowledge the presence of oil and the waters continued to stay open to fishing.
- On May 27th the Government reported new official estimate of 12,000 to 19,000 barrels per day which I immediately pointed out was bogus.
- On May 27th USF Scientists reported they found more underwater plumes of oil. NOAA denied they existed, along with BP, saying that it didn’t make sense because oil floats. The denial of the plumes made no since because the Federal Government and BP where both part of a study that showed that deepwater spills cause underwater plumes of both oil and methane.
- On May 27th satellite image analysis performed by SkyTruth showed the oil from the BP Gulf Oil Spill in the Florida Keys. By this point the oil slick in the Florida Keys was was so large it could be seen from outer space.
- On June 6th a slick of oil was reported 12 miles off the coast of Fort Lauderdale by a local boat captain.
- On June 8th NOAA finally acknowledged the existence of underwater plumes of oil.
- On June 9th USF Scientists reported they found oil in the Gulf Stream off the Florida Keys. BP refused to provide the scientists with a sample of oil to confirm the source of the oil.
- On June 10th the Government it became clear that the Federal Governments official estimate of was a lie as BP’s new siphon device started to reach the 19,000 barrel per day mark. Only after it became obvious that way more than 19,000 barrels of oil per day was leaking did the government once again change its estimate to 25,000 to 30,000 barrels per day.
- On June 11th the Federal Government issued a no fly zone over the BP Gulf Oil Spill which forced media and scientists to request permission from BP to flyover spill affected areas less than 3,000 feet.
- On June 15th as BP started to near the collection of 25,000 barrels of oil per day with its LMRP cap it once again became obvious that Governments flow rate estimates were a lie forcing no threat To Florida Keys from the Gulf BP Oil Spill and that it has even taken the loop current off of its watch list.
- On June 23rd several outraged local Florida residents and businesses demand action against BP and the Government misleading the public about the safety of Florida beaches.
- On June 22th ROFFS independent oil tracking confirmed of from the BP Gulf Oil Spill was in the Florida Keys and possibly going up the entire East Coast of Florida. Much of the oil reported by ROFFS was well outside NOAA’s no fishing zone.
- On June 23rd Government officials decided to open the Pensacola Beach based against advice of Federal scientists while tarballs washed up on shore, a sheen of oil was visible in the water and skimmers collected oil 25 to 50 feet off of the coast. Over 400 people have became sick after visiting county beaches.
- On June 24th the Dean of the University of South Florida reported oil from the BP Gulf Spill off the coast of Jacksonville Florida.
- On June 28th ROFFS independent oil tracking confirmed that the oil from the BP Gulf Oil Spill had spread into the Gulf Stream up the entire East Coast of Florida. In fact the independent oil tracking confirmed oil in locations far beyond where the Government is keeping a watch for contaminated seafood.
- On June 29th AOL News released the findings of its investigation into the safety of the BP Gulf Oil Spill seafood that revealed not a single piece of seafood of tested seafood has been pulled from the marked for contamination. Furthermore most officials and business owners say they have never even seen the Government testing on the shrimp or crabbing boats, on the docks or in the processing plants and that the Federal Government refused to answer questions about how and where seafood was being tested.
- On July 1st a congressional investigation revealed that BP and the Government where covering up the fact that the real cleanup efforts didn’t match what was being reported to the press and local officials. For example the investigation found that BP and the Federal Government reported it had deployed over 140 boats into operations to skim oil. Billy Nungusser not believing that the assets had really be deployed scheduled a fly over to verify the skimmers where working where reported. After the flyover was canceled three times officials finally admitted they had really only deployed 31 skimmers and the rest where still docked at shore.
- On July 1st BP and the Coast Guard bans all media access to spill, boom, cleanup sites and workers, in direct violation of the constitution, under threat of felony charges and a $40,000 fine for any who violates the ban.

Add this to the list of coverups… I caught video yesterday proving there is an oil plume at the BOTTOM of the blowout preventer, and BP is using dispersant ROV’s and hoses on the sea floor to prevent it from being filmed.

Also add this, there is documented picture evidence that BP is shipping in sand to the beaches in Pensacola, FL. The sand is kind of yellow compared to the natural white sand on the beaches. Some of the oil was cleaned up and what wasn't was covered with the new sand. Sick, sick, sick.

Within less than one week UK and European sources were showing OIL from the the current BP leak site, in the hook current, in the Gulf, flowing over to the Florida Keys. A couple of days after that very large tar balls (softball < soccer ball size) began washing up on one of the Florida Keys.
Duh moment, the US news sources declare tar balls are not from BP site. Yea right. Of course they understated the amount of oil flowing from the well early on.
Even the forecast models indicated that oil would be in the Gulf Stream north of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina in less then 80 days from the start of the leak. Yet US news sources ONLY show oil in the area around the spill…no where else in the Gulf or anywhere else…Duh moment, I guess the US news sources really believe that Americans are that stupid.
Hopefully if you are reading this, you are in the percentage of Americans that sees through the BS.
The amazing thing is that the US media, over a month later, still refuses to show a picture of where the oil REALLY is going.
Anyone who has ever swam, snorkeled or scuba dived near any of the bridges connecting the Florida Keys to the mainland can attest to how strong the current flows in and out of the Gulf multiple times every day. Anything in that current, including the oil, is getting dragged out into the Atlantic and into the Gulf Stream current, count on it!
More of the same, more lies, sad really….
