Update June 24th, 2010 The Dean of the University Of Southern Florida says oil from the BP Oil Spill has now been found off the Jacksonville Coastline near Georgia.
As I pointed out in my previous post BP has refused to allow scientists to confirm the origin of an oil plume that was found in the Gulf Stream off the coast of the Florida Keys.
That story was published on June 9th by the St. Petersburg Times which at the time of this post is 7 days ago.
Based on that date oil spill projections show that the the oil already in the Gulf Stream could start washing up on the North Carolina shore any day.
It is entirely possible that by following the flow of the Gulf stream that the oil from the spill could bypass the beaches of the east coast of Florida Georgia and South Carolina and hit North Carolina first.
Let’s review some satellite images and a simulation of the path of the spill.
Satellite Images Show The BP Gulf Oil Spill May Have Hit The Florida Keys On May 23rd
According to satellite analysis the BP Gulf Oil Spill seems to have entered the Loop Current on May 17th.
Satellite analysis of the BP Gulf Oil Spill shows that the BP oil slick hit the Loop Current almost a month ago even though the Federal Government, and hence the media, did not acknowledge it.
MODIS/Terra image, May 17, 2010, showing slick apparently entrained in Loop Current.The Loop current is a fast “river” of water that travels rapidly through the Gulf of Mexico and feeds into the Gulf Stream which travels up the US East Coast.
Since then it appears that the oil slick has continued further south making it as far south as the Florida Keys on May 21st.
MODIS / Terra satellite image, May 21, 2010.Apparently it continued further south where part of it went into any eddy that circles the Gulf of Mexico. To my knowledge this continued to happen entirely absent of any sort of acknowledgment by the Federal Government or the media.

MODIS / Aqua satellite image, May 27, 2010The confirmation of the oil plume in the Florida Keys by the University of South Florida on June 9th seems to indicate that the satellite analysis made by John Amos of SkyTruth are indeed correct.
Further supporting the satellite analysis are accounts of the oil slick being spotted 12 miles off the coast of FT. Lauderdale, as reported by Palm Beach Times.
The Satellite Photos Match This Simulation Of The Oil Spill Entering the Gulf Gulf Stream
But the progression in that simulation is way too slow.
As a starting point, day 74 of the simulation shows the BP oil spill hitting the Florida Keys.
But the satellite images show that May 27th was the actual day that oil slick started to hit the Florida Keys.
That means, based on the satellite analysis, day 74 of the simulation may have actually occurred on May 27th.
But the analysis of the satellite image on May 27th does say “possible” oil hitting the Florida keys.
So let us consider the date that the USF scientists confirmed the plume of oil in the Gulf Stream off the southern tip of Florida which was June 9th.
That would indicate that day 74 of the simulation, which is where the simulation hits the Florida Keys, actually occurred near June 9th.
From June 9th to the date of this post, June 15th, 6 Days have passed meaning we would be in day 80 of the simulation.
Based On Scientists Confirmation Of Oil In The Florida Keys On June 9th We Are On Day 80 Of The Simulation
That means there is there are already oil plumes floating off of the coast of North Carolina.
Now if the satellite image does indeed show oil in the keys on May 27th that would mean that we are not on day 80 but on day 93 in the simulation.

In Either Case Oil Could Start Washing Up On The Beaches Of North Carolina Any Day

Now that the oil has entered the Gulf Stream this thermal imaging shows just where the Gulf oil spill could eventually travel.

Unfortunately it seems that scenario is playing out much faster than originally anticipated.
It is even reported that NOAA has stated the BP Gulf Oil spill will make its way up the entire Atlantic coast within a few weeks.

The amount of oil on the surface versus in the water column coupled with the current oil gushing (100,000barrels) plus the leaks in the sea floor which in a short time will explode releashing more oil with psi of …10,000 or more.

Question…the vast reserve that BP was tapping before the blowout runs under neath the North American plate. Correct? so on top of the plate would be the marsh land of LA.
After the blow out and with only say 2% of oil washing ashore isn’t it safe to say that the oil will in time completely cover all islands and marshes completely killing them forever. Then in many years time BP or whomever, can go back now that the “small people” (quote from real BP chairman name?) and the wildlife flora and fauna is long gone and begin the extraction of the same reserves oil but this time on top of the bedrock which is easier and has less impurities such as the microbes that eat the methane which in turn ‘sour’ the sweet crude.
The time line who knows? but while the die off takes place for this to be implemented BP will be busy extracting the NEW Energy…Lithium.

I am at a real loss to understand what BP has to say about scientists identifying whether the oil if from their well or not! Scientists can do any test they wish and publish their findings. Maybe they mean JUST the scientists who work for BP. Would be a simple matter to get a sample of oil at the well site and match it with oil from anywhere along the Gulf Stream and BP could have nothing creditable to say about it as long as it was an independent test. This line borders on being absurd.

If the oil is already in the Gulf Loop Current and we anticipate more hurricanes than usual this year, and most hurricanes move from the southeast to the northeast – doesn't that mean that the oil in the ocean waters will be pushed against the Miami shores? Of course it does! There is no other explaination.
Miami will become as devistated as Taxas was as a result of the Pemix (Mexico) oil spill in the Gulf that occured in the mid to late 1980's. This is a great tragedy, maybe one of the greatest we have seen. I just want to say none of this had to happen or ever has to happen again if we would utilize our alternative resources. Andrew Melon (owner of Gulf Oil in the early 1900′s) made sure that Henry Ford could not use Hemp ethenol in his vehicles back in 1937 buy illegalizing marijuana and putting hemp in the bill. With every acre of hemp we can create 1000 gallons of ethanol or 500 gallons of gasoline. There are apprx. 147 Million acres of arable land currently in use today which only a fracton of it would have to be used to produce enough fuel to power our country (not even going into biomass). Not only would we never face a catasrophy like this ever again but we would truely be independent again as our for fathers intended. Some movement in Walton County, Fl today as our sheriff finally realizes that the Governor and DEP have been lying to him about water testing. He now advocates independent testing for oil and dispersants in our county. I first tasted these in the water while surfing many weeks ago and have since been running a one man army to call attention to the fact that tests were not being done. Predicting the pathways of oil related substances is extremely challenging. The first order job is to do a good job in predicting the circulation in the GoM, especially the evolution of the Loop Current and the associated eddies, plus the downstream Florida Current and interactions with the South Florida coastal areas. A group of us at the University of Miami have been doing such studies for many years and we have been using our models to monitor the pathways of water particles toward South Florida. We do NOT do oil spill modeling, but are re-seeding particles in updated oil patches, using all available observations and satellite analysis products. It is all well and good for BP to say that the relief well will solve the problem, but with what assurance can they give that should it be
required that a shut off device be required and that fails too – will we not then have two volcanic oil spews?

There are no assurances. In fact experts have warned that the relief well could blow up just as you suggest which would lead to 240,000 Barrels of oil per day leaking.

As far as the relief wells having the same problem as the original well it is something that congress is concerned about as well. An investigation into the equipment and procedures used for the well has been launched.

Just a thought about a solution to the gusshing of the pipe -
what if the military were to drop a precision aimed ordinance on top of the well, say to explode some 100m or 200m below the ground surface, would all the rockfall not be sufficient to plug the well? Perhaps a Phd in
impact could explore this possibility?

If they were to detonate a nuclear device in the "Mississippi Canyon" area it just might set off a massive earthquake at the New Madrid Fault , Memphis TN area…thus creating a HUGE split in North American continent. The spill area is in a direct line with that fault line. Unspeakable problems here. GOD help us all.
