BP is current in the process of executing the LMRP which will leave Gulf oil spill leaking until August.
BP estimates that process will take 4 to 7 days to complete and while BP is in the process of implementing LMRP. I’ll be live blogging the LMRP implementation here as well as posting videos and screen shoot photos of the process on this page.
You can watch the BP Gulf oil spill cam of the live video feed webcam footage here!. NOTE: There is not links to a page with multiple BP live oil cam feeds on a video wall Page as well as a page with a feed selector with live chat.

Video footage of the LMRP cap leak as BP captures almost 4,000 barrels per day through the LMRP siphon device.
BP is now siphoning almost 4,000 barrels per day with the new LMRP cap pipe. It doesn’t seem to have put a dent in the amount of oil leaking from the cap. This leads us to question how accurate the new government estimates of 12,000 to 19,000 barrels of oil leaking per day actually are.
8:16 PM Feeds are back up after a 10 minute outage.
8:08 PM SOMETHING BAD MAY HAVE HAPPENED.. ALL OF THE SPILL FEEDS ARE NOW DOWN!!
Photo of a pelican caught up in the oil slick.

7:51 PM BP says LMRP cap is now collecting 3620 barrels of oil per day.
[Update] In first 12 hours,1810 barrels of oil were collected as LMRP Cap was operationalized. A full report to be issued June 5 at 9am CDT.
15 minutes ago via web. CNN has reported that it may be 24-hours until BP turns up the pressure on the siphon to 20,000 lbs and closes the 4 valves on the LMRP cap. The amount of oil that can be captured by the siphon: “I’d like to see us capture 90 plus percent of this flow. I think that’s possible with this design,” BP Chief Operating Officer Doug Suttles told the CBS “Early Show.”
5:01 PM Wolf Blitzer reports that BP has said there are 4 open vents on the LMRP cap and BP is working to seal those vents. If successful that amount of oil leaking from the BOP cap should be reduced drastically.
4:22 PM
CNN is now reporting that they are siphoning oil to a tanker above. However, there seems to be no visible decrease in the amount of oil leaking from the LMRP Cap.

After Placing The Cap – Oil Volcano Rages – More Oil than Ever
The Gulf oil spill flow rate seems to have increased by an astronomical amount since cutting the riser pipe kink from the BOP and installing the LMRP cap. It has been hours since any “productive” activity has been seen on the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico sea floor. As the world anxiously awaits the next steps from BP a raging inferno of oil spews out of a volcano on the bottom the sea floor.
In the interim CNN is reporting that the Nation Incident Command Center, including the USCG and other Federal Agencies, along with BP are all missing in action and unable to answer any questions about the current events occurring on the bottom of the sea floor.
On CNN analyst noted that the installation of the the LMRP cap seemed to be an alteration of the game plan and animations that BP has given to the public explaining the LMRP process. Another CNN analyst reported that BP may need to adjust the cap because it did not make a proper seal.
Earlier Thad Allen had discussed an new plan that will be ran in parallel with the LMRP rich in essence will be a reverse top kill will BP will try to suck oil from the BOP choke and kill lines as opposed to the earlier top kill method which attempted to kill the leaking will by flooding it with drilling mud.
Massive Gulf Oil Spill Volcano In Good Lighting Continues Massive Eruption
Gulf Oil Spill Volcano In Good lighting. Massive amounts of oil continue to spew at a much higher rate than before hours after BP has installed the LMRP cap.
Gulf Oil Spill Inferno Rages 5000 Feet Below
The inferno of oil from the Gulf oil spill continues to spew massive amounts of oil after LMRP cap has been installed.
With the riser kink removed and the LMRP cap installed more oil is now spewing that ever before. BP installed the cap and has not continued with LMRP process since installing the cap.

Gulf spill robot struggles to steady leak cap in oil storm as BP LMRP Cap Oil Firework Show Continues!!
The containment cap appears to be swaying back and forth even though it has apparently been anchored the BOP that the LMRP cap is being held on top off.
BP Robots struggle to hold the containment cap in place in the midst of massive plumes of oil shooting from the BOP.
10:43 PM BOP Oil Leak from below LMRP Cap
Here’s video footage of the oil leak from below the LMRP cap.
The folks over at the oil drum inform me that this leak should lessen when BP starts sucking oil from the cap. I certainly hope so, I would hate to see this much oil leaking until August.
10:23 PM BP LMRP Cap Oil Firework Show Continues!!
BP Robots struggle to hold the containment cap in place in the midst of massive plumes of oil shooting from the BOP.
The sign the the CAP has been steadied is a very good sign. However, the massive amount of oil shooting from below the LMRP cap is not a good sign and appears to be a possible preview of what me see continue until August.

Is BP Losing the LMRP Cap battle? Oil Gushes Above and Below LMRP CAP.
Here’ a spectacular view from above the Containment cap as BP robots fight to place the LMRP containment cap. It appears the Cap as been steadying in place But the massive amounts of oil spewing from the well is insane!
10:08 PM LMRP Cap being held over BOP By ROV As Massive amounts of oil shoot from bellow.
It is uncertain if BP has been able to place the cap or not. This is currently the best view and it looks like a robot is struggling to hold the CAP over the BOP. Massive amounts of oil shooting from beneath the CAP.

7:41 PM Multiple ROV’s converge on the BOP riser flange that is spewing massive amounts of oil.
6:36 PM BP Lowers the LMRP Siphon Cap toward the BOP. The cap and the BOP are now in the same video frame and it appears that BP is doing a final inspection on the Cap before trying to place it over the rushing oil leak on the BOP flange.
1:00 PM Gulf oil spill BOP Flange Hiccup!! Its more than little ears and rough edges BP is trying to cut from the BOP Flange. There is a pretty large steel “tab” they now need to cut off. It should be a minor setback at most and most say that it should actually have been expected by BP.
How well BP is able to remove the tab could possibly effect the amount of oil that BP can capture.
12:39 PM More live spill cam video footage as the ROV fights an oil firestorm cleaning up riser flange for a good LMRP cap seal.
12:23 PM Right now the LMRP Cap #4 being lowered to the Gulf oil spill riser plume in hopes it will be able to capture oil leaking from the leaking oil well.

12:10 PM BP is currently at work cleaning up the rough edges on the BOP riser flange in preparation for the LMRP siphon cap installation.
10:29 AM A view from above the riser after the riser kink has been cut off with the shear saw.
10:21 AMSheared Riser Flange Removed From BOP. You can see how jagged the cut of the BP Gulf oil spill riser pipe is in this video.
10:13 AM The riser has been severed. The shear saw has made its cut… and so much for the 0% increase that BP made and 20% increase that the Government claimed. In my (and other estimates) it could be 200% or greater!!
9:00 AM NOW!! the Gulf oil spill is really LEAKING!!! Live Oil spill cam feed footage as CRAW tries to shear the BOP Flange.
It looks like BP’s 0% increase and the Governments 20% increase in flow are way off. The amount of oil shooting out is massive… and the riser pipe hasn’t even finished cutting the pipe yet!!
8:15 PM
CRAW Giant Shear Saw Cuts Gulf Oil Spill Flange BOP
The Giant Shear Saw CRAW Cuts Gulf Oil Spill Flange BOP . BP will now move in the containment cap to completed the LMRP #2 option to try to contain the oil.
Instant replay: CRAW circumcises the BOP Flange
7:33 AM BP moves the giant shear saw nicknamed CRAW (crab saw) into place to but the BOP riser flange from the BOP. This shearing saw will require an modified containment cap and ultimately means that more oil will be left leaking until August than previously anticipated.
6:18 AMThere seems to be some disagreement about whether of not we are seeing a HUGE INCREASE OF OIL SHOOTING FROM THE RISER KINK LEAK. Many, including myself think so other say it has been like this. Judge for yourself. In another note CNN is reporting that NOAA and BP are still denying the existence of HUGE PLUMES of oil in the gulf even after scientist have smacked NOAA for covering up the existence of the plumes. The media really needs to get on the Obama administration about this. Its been weeks since the plumes where first reported and until NOAA acknowledges they exist the resources needed to track and respond to the plumes will not be deployed.
2:58 AMMultiple BP Gulf oil spill video feed wall is now available here Just open in a new window because Media player bug may cause your browser to close and reload!!
2:52 AMBP has officially released all ROV video camera feeds to the public. Currently
BP Robots work assembling the new oil containment device after BP officially announced it will no longer use the diamond saw to cut the BOP flange. The new plan involves making a modified “top hat” that will be installed after the CRAW shear saw cuts the BOP flange.
12:14 AM 6/03/2010 Its official! BP has called of plans to finish the BOP flange cut operation with the diamond wire saw. It will proceed with CRAW (crab saw) – the huge shear saw used to cut the riser pipe. Read the source with a video explanation here
7:31 PMBP sprays dispersants in BOP oil leak.
7:04 PM The NY Times is reporting that material from the Junk shot has rendered the diamond saw unusable. The article says that BP will now deploy the giant shear saw known as “CRAW” (crab saw) to cut the BOP.
6:36 PM The Diamond saw blade was stuck in the BOP as of some time after midnight. CNN has just reported that BP was able to free the stuck diamond wire and have taken to the surface for repair. The diamond saw is now on the way back to the BOP according to CNN.
1:12 AM After about 3 hours of cutting the diamond saw is only about 1/4 of the way through the Blow Out Preventor (BOP). The diamond saw ROV is now entirely covered in oil and has zero visibility
11:10 PM The oil spill robot that is operating the diamond saw fights a massive jet of oil plume trying to cut through the BOP. The amount of oil shooting out the side of the BOP flange keeps increasing by the minute.
10:43 PM BP Live webcam video feed during diamond saw ROV during the LMRP (lower marine riser package) operation to make a clean cut to install the siphon cap device which BP hopes will capture most of the oil gushing from from the leaking oil well.
10:38 PM Switching over to the CNN live oil spill camera we see a shocking scene looking down on the robot sawing away at the BOP. It looks like a total war zone down there now.
10:31 PM Diamond Wire Saw Cutting BP Gulf Oil Spill BOP. The Clean cut of the BOP is currently underway so the LMRP siphon cap can be installed.
10:17PM Gulf oil spill diamond wire saw in action cutting away at BOP. This video is the start of the oil.
9:39 PM The diamond saw has been given the go ahead to start the clean cut of the BOP for the LMRP siphon cap system installation.
9:27 PM We get a good look of the BP Gulf oil spill riser kink. This video of the leaking oil provides an extreme closeup the riser kink leak after the shear saw cut the main portion of riser and drill pipe assembly from the BOP assembly.
9:10 PM This offer more extreme closeup of the BOP riser kink leak from the live spill cam footage of the Bp Gulf oil spill leak after the shearing saw cut the main portion of the riser pipe from the BOP.
8:52:PM Extreme closeup of the BOP gulf oil spill riser leak after the shear saw cut main portion of riser pipe from the BOP. BP is doing a final inspection before starting the diamond saw to make the clean cut needed to install the LMRP.
8:43PM BP does a guided video tour around the BOP as the Diamond saw sets up and make preparation to make the final clean cut needed to install the new siphon cap for the LMRP.

BP Gulf oil spill Diamond Saw + New Riser Leak Footage. New live oil spill video footage of the BOP riser Leaking after the main portion of the riser pipe has been sheer off by a huge shear saw known as CRAW (Crab Saw).
8:22pm Here it is..
The Huge Shear rips the Riser pipe from the Gulf oil spill BOP.
The diamond cutting saw is now under way to make the clean cut needed for the new siphon cap that will be installed.
8:17 PM The massive BP Gulf oil spill shear saw CRAW (Crab Saw) fights to cut the BOP riser piper. Part 2 coming soon!!
7:31 PM The huge shears are now moving in for a second attempt to cut the Riser from the BOP so the diamond saw can make the clean second cut at the BOP riser.
6:54 PM BP managed to cut two pieces of axillary pipe from the choke and kill lines today. Cutting with the diamond saw is expected to continue over night. Here is some footage from the monster shears nick name “CRAW” – the crab claw by the folks over at the oil drum. While this 42,000 pound pear of shears was unleashed on the riser pipe.. it whimpered away like a beaten puppy dug after managing to do little more than crimp the riser pipe.
3:10 PM New Main riser leak footage shows decreased oil flow from the main riser leak.
11:47 AM More info on the saws being used:
And here is :
the wire saw they are using
11:34 AM A nice diagram posted by a reader to explaining what is really going on here.
Multimedia presentation of the LMRP process that is the subject of this live blogging
11:21AM
9:21 AM It appears that the riser pipe is now be drug away. If so the BOP now has the cut needed to install the Lower Marine Riser Package (LMRP)
10:45 AM An update with some clarifications from a reader:
The riser looked like that at the BOP since day one, it did not get ripped off recently. The plumes are not in any way “new”. They used the circular saw to remove piping from the BOP/riser to fit in the diamond saw. The diamond saw is a wire saw now attached to the top of the bop and waiting for the other cut to be made.
They are cutting the old choke/kill lines from the riser at the moment, while it is held by the craw. Seems like they can’t use the craw yet for whatever reason.
Apparently some of those comments (re the choke and kill lines) refer to this video which I didn’t get around to uploading yet (I had to run out). As far as the riser coming off the BOP looking like that from day 1 that in my opinion is not the case. You can clearly see the rise has been disconnected from the BOP in the videos below. The plume has also increased in flow from earlier videos.
9:16 AM The Giant Claw now appears to be holding up the riser to relieve pressure while the diamond saw cuts the Riser pipe from the top of the BOP.
8:00 AM New video footage clearly shows the break of the main riser pipe from the BOP which now has massive plums of oil gushering out unlike never before.
Riser Pipe Broke from BOP during BP Gulf oil spill LMRP
7:08 AM More video footage of the new riser pipe plume after the main riser pipe apparently broke at the BOP.
6:07 AM Here is more video footage and a 360 view of the massive plumes now shooting from the main riser BOP pipes. The new huge plumes appeared after an apparent break in the main riser pipe coming from the BOP during the LMRP setup process.
6:02 AM It looks like that speculation is true. The Main Riser looks to have broken off from the Gulf oil spill BOP during preparation for the LMRP process. Here is more video footage. A more detailed video showing the huge plumes shooting out of the riser and a more detailed footage of the break is now uploading.
5:46 AM There is now speculation the the riser pipe split from the BOP. The break on the main riser pipe does not look clean and there are riser pipe is roped up to keep it from collapsing.
To clarify, here is the split marked up in red
5:20 AM Here is some new footage of the BOP riser plume from the Live BP oil spill web cam feed video footage. It was basically starting at oblivion for the last several hours. After coming back here is the view.
12:55 AM BP reveals the BP Gulf oil spill super Diamond saw!! Its a huge beast!!! They have whipped it out…. hopefully they plan on using it soon!! For some reason they didn’t go through with cutting the pipe using the circular saw and they have whipped out this HUGE BEAST OF A Super-size Claw Shears!
12:49 AM Their is some massive claw. Video coming soon
11:05 PM The device they where trying to connect is called a “Flying Head”. It wasn’t fitting so after 20 minutes of fumbling with it trying to get it in the connector, BP cut the feed. We are now seeing an ROV that looks like it is doing some routine inspections.
10:55 PM The device they are having the issues with in the screen shots below is part of the “Umbilical Connection System.”
10:49 PM Houston we may have a problem. The ROV has been trying to get the tube in the hole (see below) for more than 10 minutes and well…. it doesn’t seem to want to fit.
10:42 PM The ROV Is assembling a pieces on a big metal container.

10:17 PM The ROV has been busy at work moving around lines and hooking up various items. Here are the latest screen shots.
9:06 PM The ROV is moving some wires around and positioning things.
8:37 PM Here’s a screen shot progression of the ROV’s fighting with volatile explosions of oil during a successful attempt to cut away part of the BOP riser piping.
7:52 PM More video footage of the ROV diamond cut saw cutting away at the BOP riser kink pipes.
7:48 PM Here is some video footage of the ROV cutting away at the pipes on the Gulf oil spill BOP riser kink pipes.
7:43 PM ROV is now cutting at the BOP riser pipes with the diamond cut saw blade. Here is a screen shot.
7:23 PM A large increase in the amount of oil shooting from the BOP rise kink has caused the ROV to move back from the pipe.
7:19 PM Here’s the video of the Gulf ROV working to remove the pipes from BOP riser kink.
7:14 PM 5/31/2010 The ROV s currently pulling pipes out of the BOP riser. Here is a screen shot. Video coming soon.

Can’t everybody see that BP does not want to stop this well. If they stop it they will never be allowed to start it back up. There are millions of barrels of oil down there and they want it. If you don’t believe me then ask yourself why does it take so long for them to do something. We all see the video’s and they sure are dragging their asses everyday, there seems to be no urgentence to fix this. By the time they slow or stop this well the oil will have made to the Alantic ocean and across to Europe. Get off your asses BP and stop the DAMM Well NOW!!!

You could be right absolutely.
As in Why do they only has two ROVS down there ? (as i belive.) – it’s the same as two persons working on the job…l.
Why did it take HOURS to get the LMRP down there.? – That is After they already have used HOURS to cut the Pipe (don’t remember the name).
and when the Cutter broke down, why didn’t they have a replacement Ready. Two of each
- Then this event would never have happen in the first place I guess.
