BP Chief Executive Says Gulf Oil Spill Will Lead To Record Profits

In a sickening Interview with Forbes Magazine BP Chief Tony Hayward says the Gulf spill might help the BP and the oil industry to make increased profits of up to 20% by 2015, which would mean record profits for the British oil maker.
Tony Hayward tells Forbes that he is “he’s sleeping well these days” and Forbes reports that he is nice and fresh, almost relaxed in his makeshift corner office at BP’s emergency response center in Houston.
Hayward goes onto tell Forbes how “extraordinarily successful” in its response to the spill which continues to spill at least 100,000 barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico according to Purdue Professor Steve Wereley.
And that doesn’t even take into consideration that there may now be 5 different leaks in three separate locations gushing from the Deepwater Horizon Gulf oil spill site.
Hayward continues in his delusional fantasy that the Gulf oil spill will allow BP to “enhance our reputation rather than have it damaged.” But who can blame him when he sits in comfort in his cozy Houston office where “Food is constantly replenished” and “masseuses give backrubs” while millions of Americans go to bed every nigh in tears while there lives are destroyed.
I guess the BP PR machine must figure that us peasant layman just aren’t sophisticated enough to read Forbes. Once again BP is dead wrong.
Here’s some highlights from the transcript of the Forbes interview.
Forbes: So are you sleeping at night?
Hayward: Yeah, of course. Of course I am.
Yeah, of course. Of course, what arrogant narcissistic egotistical maniac CEO wouldn’t be sleeping well at night when his corporate greed threatens wreak havoc on three sides of the Atlantic and has the potential to end human life on earth.
Hayward then goes on to compare the BP response to a World War II battle at Normandy Beach.
The analogy with Normandy is quite good. It is like the Normandy landing. We don’t know when we’ll be successful but we will be successful. We will prevail. We can’t predict exactly when that will be. I’ve also resorted to Churchill in the matter of: “When in hell, keep going” [chuckling]
Why in the hell is he laughing about such a huge catastrophe. There is absolutely nothing funny about this.
When asked what he has learned over the last three years and if he would change anything he says he would not have done anything differently at all.
Do I feel that anything I’ve done I would have done differently? Not at all. What we’ve done is as good now as it was. In reality, the company is much better able to sustain this sort of incident than it could possibly have been able to three years ago.
Seriously, he wouldn’t change anything? NOT ONE THING!?
I guess I can’t kid myself, he probably won’t and neither will our politicians or anyone else in the unholy alliance of Big Corporations and Big Government.
When this is all said and done BP and the rest of Big oil will immediately pickup up right where they left off, engaging in unbridled corruption and bribing corrupt officials in the Federal government with money, sex and drugs.
I mean why not, what’s to stop them? Americans have such short attention spans there is no doubt some new neon distraction will come along to keep us all occupied.
Just think about it, even after having destroyed millions of livelihoods for decades and having caused untold environmental and economic damage to our country along with the negligent death of 11 people about the Deepwater Horizon oil rig not a single single employee of the Federal Government, BP, Halliburton or Transocean.
Those who are not longer employed were allowed to retire with their pensions.
Forbes: What changed?
Hayward: Because we’ve had such a focus on safe and reliable operations. Such a focus on moving operating capability to the front of the company. Such a focus on making all those things absolutely important. We’ve built an enormous capability of doing that. We’ve trained thousands of people, recruited thousands of people. So the company is much better able to deal with this magnitude of challenge than it would have been three or four years ago.
“We’ve had such a focus on safe and reliable operations” he says. What planet is this guy living on?
He continues…
It’s clearly much better able to deal with it in a financial sense. It’s running actually very, very well. This last year the financial performance has been very strong. And it’s not accounting magic. It’s been driven by operating performance. Very strong operating performance. We’re much better able to deal with this.
Oh, so that’s what he means. BP makes so much money the Government has granted them a license to kill.
11 people dead, entire economies destroyed, the environment and ecosystems destroyed and this guy has no problems going to sleep at night. Sick. Just Sickening.
When asked by Forbes about the Obama administrations pressure on BP to cap the leaking oil rig he dismisses the pressure from the Government to cap the oil rig as “public rhetoric” saying the relationship behinds the scenes is much different than what the Feds are leading the public to believe.
Forbes: To put their boots on your neck?
There’s a bit of public rhetoric, what’s actually happening in real life is something different.
Then he goes on to say the US Oiling regulations do nothing more than give a false sense of security.
You can imagine regulation that was intended to reduce risk but actually doesn’t reduce risk, and you’ve led yourself into a false sense of security. You need to be thoughtful about understanding the risk and that’s going to come from the investigation.
When asked about why the choice was made to change the drilling mud with seawater, which a shocking 60 minutes special on the Gulf oil spill says helped caused the blowout, he laughs it off saying “we always do that”.
Forbes: Certainly, though the speculation in the last couple days has been that it was BP engineers who said let’s replace the drilling mud with seawater before we finish the plug.
The reality is there are going to be so many red herrings. You always do that (laughing nervously), that’s always the procedure, right?
The Obama administration needs wake up and follow through with their threat to push this delusional psychopath to the side.
