In short, Government reports say that 210,000 gallons of oil per day are leaking in the Gulf Oil Spill, or approx 2.3 gallons per second. Video footage proves its an absolute lie.

1) Watch the Counter on the right. Notice its about 2-3 gallons of oil per second.

The Gulf oil spill leak counter in the right side bar shows the amount leaking per second as reported by the Government. To be precise 210,000 gallons of oil leaking per day breaks down to approximately 2.31481 gallons per second.

That means the well is only letting out about 2.3 gallons every second in total.

There are 3 REPORTED LEAKSe have three leaks down there, so if we believe the numbers the government is reporting that means only 3/4 of gallon of oil is coming from each leak leak per second.

Compare that to this photo below of the actual amount being leaked in one location.

2) Notice the screen shot of video below showing oil shooting from well

To get a real perspective of the amount being leaked, start the YouTube video below. It is a few minutes of footage of a robot working to plug just one of the three reported leaks in the Gulf oil spill.

3) Fast forward the video to 2:00 minutes in to see the oil gushing from the well

Judge for yourself. Is that 3/4 of a gallon of oil per second?

Apparently, a reader of my blog submitted this post to NPR and asked if they could verify or come up with an estimate on the amount of oil.

Low and below, NPR has confirmed that indeed 70,000 barrels of oil are leaking into the Gulf of Mexico every days.

That is equal to one Exxon-Valdez oil spill leaking into the Gulf of Mexico every 4 days.
